The term “crest” is often erroneously synonymous with that of coat of arms. Crest is the part of Arms above the helmet and it is by some considered to be the most personal part of the entire achievement, usually a direct link to the first Armiger of the family Arms. Some heraldries, like Serbian one, can differentiate personal Arms by just changing crests. This all merits a special place in the gallery for them, although it may seem a bit repetitive. Historically speaking, in Serbian heraldry crests were more important than the shields themselves!
